DC 8

MIP based pan-specific or sequence specific enrichment of pHis, meHis and meLys PTMs and SRC SH2 binding biomarkers

Project description

The Protein Research Group at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense is seeking a skilled DC to join our team. This role is pivotal in supporting the development of novel affinity-binders for high-sensitivity proteomics and biomedical applications in cancer.  DC8 will develop mass spectrometry and proteomics approaches and characterize novel affinity-binders for detection and quantification of post-translational modifications in proteins and peptides, including methylated and phosphorylated species. Develop unique bioanalytical methods for identification and validation of unexplored pools of cancer biomarkers to provide new insights for understanding cellular signalling pathways involving post-translational modifications.

Candidate requirements

An MSc degree (or equivalent experience) in biochemistry, molecular cell biology, proteomics or bioanalytical protein/peptide science, or a related field.  Experience in Mass Spectrometry/Proteomics: Candidates with experience in protein science or quantitative proteomics will be prioritized, including familiarity with protein sample preparation and analysis by ESI MS and LC-MS/MS. Programming Skills: Working knowledge in standard scripting languages such as R and Python is recommended. Familiarity with statistical data analysis and cloud computing platforms is recommended. Independence and Creativity: Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with a passion for scientific research. Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary research projects and collaborate with a diverse and international team of scientists and students.  Willingness to take on various tasks and adapt to new challenges. Mobility is a requirement as part of this international research project. Communication Skills: Proficiency in the English language (speaking, reading, writing) and excellent communications and presentation skills.
