Università di Pavia

The Department of Drug Sciences (DDS) at the University of Pavia brings together faculty and researchers involved in the design, synthesis and development of drugs and health products. Research areas include Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmacology, Organic Chemistry, Food Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. The hosting laboratory (Separative Techniques and Affinity Interactions Lab) applies analytical and spectroscopic techniques to molecular recognition and drug discovery. It holds more than 20 year experience in the characterization of molecularly imprinted materials and in the synthesis of active molecules. The University of Pavia, founded in 1361, is one of the oldest in the world, it covers all disciplines of knowledge (18 Departments, 2 Faculties) and caters for more than 26000 students. Pavia, located 35 kilometres from Milan, is a veritable city-campus as it boasts a network of university halls of residence and facilities for study and sport scattered around the city, which make it one of its kind in Italy.

Led by E. De Lorenzi, who is the Principal Scientist of UNIPV Unit. Our DC will embark on a research program with focus on synthesis and characterization of molecularly imprinted materials mainly in the format of nanogels, targeting cancer associated glycan motifs. The group will work closely with at least other three groups of the DN, to support material characterization, development of MIP based RNAseq of Circulating Tumor Cells (CTCs) and of fluorescent nanoMIPs.
