Malmö University

The Biofilms Research Centre for Biointerfaces (BRCB) at Malmö University is a translational research centre engaging chemists, biologists and physicists in interdisciplinary research with pharmaceutical, medical, dental, food and environmental relevance. Research at the centre involves three faculties and is divided into three core research areas:

  1. Biofilms at interfaces,
  2. Smart materials at interfaces and
  3. Biobarriers and pharmaceutical design.

The centre is internationally recognized for pioneering research in molecular imprinting, host guest chemistry and multivalent receptors. Located in Malmö, the third largest city in Sweden, it is situated by the sea next door to Copenhagen. We collaborate with Life Science partners within the Medicon Valley research cluster of Southern Scandinavia which includes three MIPrecise partners.

Led by Börje Sellergren, the coordinator of MIPrecise, this group will host two DCs who will embark on a research program with focus on molecularly imprinted materials in different formats targeting phosphorylated and methylated biomarkers. The group will work closely with the proteomics expert groups of the DN to implement the receptors in high performance proteomics tools or diagnostic assays.
