The Bioorganic & Biophysical Chemistry Laboratory (BBCL) is an integral part of Linnaeus University’s “Center of Research Excellence in Biomaterials Chemistry”, one of six centers, and a member of the university-wide knowledge environment “Advanced Materials”. The research group currently numbering 10 PhD students and post-doctoral researchers, is part of the Department of Chemistry & Biomedical Sciences. The BBCL’s research is focused on the development of functional materials for use in diagnostics and therapeutics, and has a strong interest in catalytic systems, both small molecule- and macromolecular-based. We use a vast range of techniques in our work, including theoretical tools, synthesis and an array of analytical tools for the characterisation and application of the materials we develop. We are housed in very new state-of-the-art laboratories with extensive infrastructure for the design, synthesis, characterisation and application of the materials we develop.
Led by Prof Ian Nicholl, the group are responsible for DC7, who will develop protein specific nanoMIPs for single cell cancer biomarker enrichment and labelling. In addition to nanoMIP development, we also provide expertise in nanoMIP rational design and QCM to the others in the consortium.
